Recording Messages on your Presslines Service

To record messages, call your administration telephone number (0844 858 4660 unless advised otherwise) and enter your access code and administrator PIN.

You can check the existing messages by selecting option 1.  This will play the current messages, including disabled messages and also give the message ID for each message to allow messages to be disabled or enabled for callers.

When recording new messages, it is usual to have a standard format for recordings such as:

1. Brief introduction, for example: "Presslines update at [time] on [day and/or date]"

2. The actual message, for example: "Due to bad weather the ferry will not operate today"

3. Next update, for example: "The next update will be at [time] on [day and/or date]"

Most users find it easier to work from a pre-typed script, either on-screen or printed and this also allows the content to created in a more controlled way, as well as allowing it to be read prior to recording.

To record, choose option 2 from the Administrator menu.  Start recording as soon as the recording tone ends.  Speak clearly and at a comfortable pace. At the end of the message press the hash ( # ) key on the telephone keypad promptly.

Don't worry if you make a mistake, you can press hash and check the recording and re-record as many times as required.  The recording is not saved or heard by anyone else unless you select option 3 to make the recording live.

When you select option 3, you are given a message ID for the recording.  You can use this to disable the recording later, if required - or to re-enable the recording at a later time.
